At 14:33 hours this afternoon, A-Shift responded to a reported structure fire near 2004 Lori Drive outside of Hillsborough. Orange County EMS arrived on scene and reported someone burning leaves. Engine 231 arrived on scene and found the rear porch of an abandoned mobile home on fire. Fire had extended into the rear bedroom of the home. Neighbors were trying to extinguish the fire with a garden hose when fire units arrived and are credited with keeping the fire small and thus reducing the damage to the home. Firefighters extinguished the remaining fire and opened the walls and floor of the home to extinguish smoldering hot spots.
The fire is under investigation by the Orange County Fire Marshall.
We want to thank Efland Fire, Eno Fire and New Hope Fire for the assistance.
