When you change the time on your clocks we also recommend you replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Early notification that a fire or CO emergency exists gives us a greater chance of survival in these types of situations. Completing maintenance twice each year such as changing the batteries and cleaning your detectors will increase the chances that the detector will perform as designed. Since you'll be up close and personal with your detectors, go ahead and check the manufacture date. Detectors usually have a life span of 10 years so any detectors reaching or passing ten years old should be replaced.
