Orange Rural Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to the citizens of the Central Orange Fire District and the Town of Hillsborough. Candidates interested in to becoming firefighters have to meet national training standards. Currently certified firefighters have to meet on going training requirements in order to remain certified and to keep up the the ever changing environment for which they work. In order to meet the training needs, all of our firefighters have to leave the fire district. Sending firefighters out of district for training creates a financial hardship on the department in that fire district coverage must be maintained, regardless of the training need.
In order to combat this issue and to provide for more training and experience oportunities for our firefighters, Orange Rural Fire Department is looking for a location to put up a training facility. The training facility consists of a three story, specially designed structure where firefighters will train on hoseline advancement, ventilation, fire attack, rescue, rappelling, fire behavior, building construction, self rescue techniques and many other topics.
The location of the facility needs to be central to the fire district so that on going emergency responses that occur during training aren't delayed.
We are asking our citizens and business owners to help us locate 2 acres of land that we could buy or lease in order to place a training facility.
If you have any potential leads or want to assist us in locating a training facility, please call the station at 919-732-7911.

Our entire community benefits from having well trained and prepared firefighters when disaster strikes and we need the community's help to make sure we have them.
