| The lights on our stations are blue this month and will change to red in May to honor our nation's Fallen Firefighters. We urge all of our citizens and visitors to replce their exterior lights with red colored bulbs starting May 1st to honor all of the firefighters across the United States that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Firefighters are unique people. They often put themselves in harms way to try and save the lives and properties of others. Most firefighters quickly come to terms with the fact that the next response could be their last. Losing a firefighter in the line of duty is never a risk we want to take and even though we try hard not to let it happen, it unfortunately happens. The ones that suffer the most are all of us left behind so when we ask you to put red bulbs up to show support of our fallen brothers and sisters, what we are really asking is that you put red bulbs up to thank the families that are left behind. Families that have unexpectedly lost a son, daughter, mother, father, best friend and life long companion and continue to try to understand and deal with the hurt, those are the real heros and they deserve our gratitude. We all owe them for what they gave so will you join us in putting up some red lights for the fallen and their families?
