Throughout history you can find countless stories of ordinary people displaying unimaginable courage in the face of danger. Then there are those that choose to train and plan for handling disasters. Those that rush in when everyone else is running out.

Most of our nation is protected by volunteer firefighters. These are everyday people with real lives and real stories that choose to respond to calls for help becuase their communities need them.
In communities where the dangers are increased and the call load is greater, you'll find combination fire departments that have a mix of volunteer and paid firefighters working along side each other to protect their communities.
In larger communities with even higher risks and higher call volumes you'll find fully paid fire departments.

Regardless of which community type you live in, all of your firefighters share the same goals and objectives. These men and women are willing to go into harms way to save lives, extinguish fires, control hazardous materials spills, rescue the trapped or injured, clear the roads, evacuate the people and whatever else is needed for their communities to remain safe or return to normal following a disaster.
Firefighters come from all walks of life. Some are business owners, some work shifts in mills and factories, some work in offices, some are working multiple jobs to provide for their families. Some have college education while others are still in highschool. What connects them all is that they want to help others and they want to save lives.
Today and everyday, we appreciate our hardworking and dedicated firefighters. We are proud of our firefighters and the work they do.

From the Orange Rural Fire Department, THANK YOU to all firefighters. Keep doing what you do.
