At 01:01 hours on Monday May 22nd, B-Shift was dispatched to a Confined Space/Structural Collapse at 327 St. Mary's Road in Hillsborough. Within five minutes, Engine 231 was on scene and confirmed that a tree had broken off about twenty feet above the ground and fallen on a house leaving two people trapped inside. Crews made their way through the house and tree to access the victims and assist them to safety. The engine cleared the call at 02:30.
Then at 03:04, B-Shift responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 40 near mile marker 259. The first engine arrived on scene in just over five minutes to find that a vehicle had hit the guardrail and ended up off the roadway on its side. The crew gained access to the occupant of the vehicle and assisted them with getting back to the roadway where Orange County EMS took over patient care. The fire crew stood by while Lee's Towing returned the vehicle to the roadway so it could be hauled away.
