Warm Weather Reminders |

| The forecast over the next few days and July 4th is showing high temperatures and even higher heat index temperatures. Weather like this is extremely hazardous to older populations and anyone with pre-existing medical conditions so we want to remind everyone to stay informed and plan accordingly for any activity that exposes you or your loved ones to summer temperatures. If you have family, friends or neighbors that might be in jeopardy of suffering a medical event from being exposed to high temperatures, please check on them and make sure they are safe and accounted for. Higher temperatures also means higher demand for power from the power grid caused by us turning our thermostats down to try and cool off. IF there is a weak spot in the power grid it may become visible when the load goes up so have a plan for how to stay cool if the power goes out. Fortunately for us, we have two great utility providers that work hard to keep the lights on. High outside temperatures like this are also harder on everyone that has to work outside or without air conditioning. This is especially true for all of our firefighters and other emergency response personnel. Stay safe, stay cool and enjoy the upcoming July 4th Holiday. If you are off with your family for the holiday, all of us in emergency services envy you because we'll be here in case you need us. |
