On Monday, 6 November 2023 we deployed four personnel an engine and a brush truck to Hendersonville, North Carolina to assist with structure protection related to a large wild fire.
Our personnel and apparatus have spent the last three days building fire breaks, prepping houses to reduce the chances of autoignition should the wild fire get close, extinguishing spot fires and putting in hose lines for fire control.
We got word last evening that our personnel were being released this morning for their return home.
DC Cabe, AC Capps, Lt. Brooks and FF Callaway are tired and sore but in otherwise good shape. We thank them for their willingness to put their lives and families on hold to go and help our fellow North Carolinians in a time of need.
We also want to thank the community for the kind words, prayers and good vibes given our department and our personnel.
