With the forecasted severe weather expected to hit our area tomorrow we are preparing. Crews will be on duty throughout the day and night for emergency response as needed. If wind speeds exceed 35 MPH, we may delay responses until conditions are safe for our personnel. We will clear roads for emergency vehicle access as needed until conditions become unsafe for our personnel.
As a reminder, trees and the ground can conduct electricity so stay away from any tree or branch that is in contact with overhead or downed power lines.
If you have a generator, please make sure it is only powering your home and not back feeding into the power grid. Back feeding the power grid will destroy your generator and could lead to the death of utility workers trying to get the power back on.
If you have trees around your home or if you must travel, keep in mind that the amount of rainfall we've had and will be getting coupled with the expected high winds could cause trees to fall.
Increase your situational awareness when you are within the reach of falling trees.
If you are headed into work in the morning, plan for the possibility of a longer commute to get home. Should trees fall, your typical route home may become blocked.
Now would be a great time to plan for tomorrow afternoon/evening just in case you lose power.

Stay safe if you go out and help look out for your neighbors.
We are here if you need us but hope that you don't.
