At 11:03 this morning, C-Shift was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 3015 NC 86 North. The fire was reported by a passerby that notice smoke coming from under a house. Within three minutes, units were on scene and reported finding a significant amount of smoke coming from the crawl space under the home. Crews deployed hose lines into the crawl space and simultaneously entered the home to search for any occupants. Once the house was cleared, crews applied water through a hole in the floor that the fire had created. The house was vacant at the time of the fire and had recently been remodeled. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Orange County Fire Marshal. We appreciate the mutual aid assistance we received form Efland, Cedar grove and Caldwell Fire Departments. We also want to thank the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Orange County EMS for assisting us with this response.
