| Over the past week, our crews have been traveling to Chapel Hill to get some live burn training During the training sessions, firefighters dressed out in personal protective equipment were exposed to live fire conditions inside a specially designed structure made for training firefighters. They were trained on what to do in flashover conditions. Flashover is the term given to a situation where super heated gases cause everything in a room to ignite simultaneously. Flashovers can be predicted and firefighters can take action to prevent them from occurring if they recognize the signs of impending flashover. During the training, firefighters also learned how to control fires using nothing but ventilation techniques, worked on familiarizing with thermal imaging cameras and learned more about the design and construction of personal protective clothing and how it protects them inside of burning buildings. We are extremely proud of our personnel for there on going hard work to make themselves better by practicing their craft in a multitude of situations. |
