Tropical Storm Debbie

By Orange Rural Fire Department
August 6, 2024

It looks like we'll see some significant rainfall amounts from TS Debbie. Forecasts this morning are predicting 6-10 inches of rainfall that will start arriving later this evening as the outer bands of the storm reach our area. We want to take this time to remind everyone:
*Turn around, don't drown- stay away from flood waters both on foot and while driving. Flowing rivers and streams may look safe to cross but it takes only inches of water to float a vehicle.
*Plan for potential power outages- heavy rains and wind will likely topple a few trees which could result in downed power lines.
*Expect flooded roads and ponding water- reduce your travel speed and expect hydroplaning to occur both from your vehicle and those around you.
*Low lying areas will likely flood- if your home is near a low lying area, prepare now for how you will keep the water out and more importantly, where you can go should flooding of your home become and issue.

Stay safe and call if you need us!
