Busy Night for A-Shift

At 19:25 hours on June 5th, A-Shift was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle collision with a vehicle versus a house on Summit Drive. Upon arrival, Engine 234 found a compact car had struck the corner of the garage and moved the corner of the building off of its foundation. The fire crew installed temporary shoring to support the structure and assisted the towing company with removing the vehicle. The cause of the incident is being investigated by Hillsborough Police.
At 22:57 hours on June 5th, A-Shift was dispatched to a commercial motor vehicle collision on Interstate 40 near the Hillsborough exit. Upon arrival, Engine 234 found a tractor trailer on its side that had torn down sections of the median barrier wall. The firefighters moved wall debris from the interstate so that they could get to the vehicles involved. Firefighters shut down interstate lanes and stood by until Lee's Towing could up right the truck and remove it rom the interstate. North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the incident.
At 0630 hours on June 6th, A-Shift was dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Brooks Road Spur. The first unit to arrive on scene was Orange County EMS Battalion Chief 10 who reported finding a single wide mobile home that was full involved with fire. Engine 231, Rescue 261 and Engine 232 arrived on scene and initiated building search for potential victims and fire attack. The building was determined to be unoccupied at the time of the fire department's arrival. The structure and its contents were a total loss. Multiple hand lines were deployed to suppress the fire. Water supply was brought to the scene by Cedar Grove Fire Department, Efland Fire Department, Caldwell Fire Department and tankers from our department.
The Orange County Fire Marshal is investigating to determine cause and origin of the fire.

None of these incidents resulted in life threatening injuries.
