Our crews spent time today making repairs to the department's aerial platform. During a recent inspection it was found that the wiring for the aerial ladder had damaged insulation. Department personnel ordered the replacement wire, removed the damaged wiring and installed new in its place. Our personnel spend a large portion of their time cleaning, repairing and maintaining the trucks, equipment and stations. By completing repairs such as those on the platform, we are able to provide more services to our tax payers for a lower cost. Had we sent the platform out for repairs it would have cost more and the truck would have been out of service for a week or so. Personnel on staff do all of the routine maintenance and repairs that are needed to keep us in service and ready to respond.
