At 1600 hours today, C-Shift responded to a reported structure fire with a victim that had suffered smoke inhalation injuries. Hillsborough Police arrived on scene and reported fire coming from the doors and windows of the home. Engine 231 arrived on scene and reported that they had a one story residence with working fire conditions. Crews made entry and searched the residence for victims while other crews deployed hose lines and extinguished the flames. Firefighters controlled the utilities to the residence and overhauled the burned areas and attic of the home to locate and extinguish hot spots.
Orange County EMS handled patient care for the victim with smoke inhalation injuries.
One firefighter suffered minor burns but no medical care was needed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Fire Marshal Farnan with the Orange County Fire Marshal's Office.
We would like to thank Efland Fire, Caldwell Fire, Cedar Grove Fire, Hillsborough Police, Orange County EMS and the Orange County Fire Marshal for their help with this incident.
