Orange Rural Fire Department serves a diverse 64 square mile area in central Orange County, North Carolina. Our service territory encompasses both urban and rural communities, from the historic Town of Hillsborough to residential neighborhoods, farms, and commercial districts throughout the region.
Through a contracted partnership with the Town of Hillsborough, we provide comprehensive fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response to over 15,000 residents and visitors. Our strategic placement of four fire stations ensures optimal response times and coverage throughout our district.
The Orange Rural Fire District was established to provide professional fire and emergency services to areas outside traditional municipal boundaries, ensuring that all residents receive the same high-quality emergency response regardless of their location within our coverage area.
