About Our Department

Orange Rural Fire Department serves a 64 square mile area covering Hillsborough and central Orange County. We respond to over 2,500 calls annually, providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response. Our department operates four strategically located stations with modern equipment and serves over 15,000 residents with professional standards.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid North Carolina driver's license
Ability to pass physical fitness test
Background check and drug screening
Ability to work under stressful conditions
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to ongoing training and education

Preferred Qualifications

NC Fire Fighter I & II certification
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
Previous fire service experience
Technical rescue training
Hazardous materials operations
