Our B-Shift crew and Chiefs have been busy with calls today. They started with a structure fire response to 815 US 70-A. Upon arrival they found that there had been an appliance fire in the third floor laundry room. The fire was out on our arrival but smoke filled the third floor. Crews remained on scene for a couple hours clearing smoke. While on scene on 70-A, they were dispatched to 510 Meadowlands for a burning smell on the second floor. The problem was in one of the HVAC units and there was no fire. At 16:18 they were dispatched to 818 Carr Store Road for a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival they found a Dodge Challenger that had crashed and caught on fire. There were no occupants in or around the vehicle when the fire trucks arrived. Crews worked with the towing company to lift the vehicle so that the fuel tank fire under the damaged vehicle could be extinguished. Because the fire occurred near a creek, crews also dug and built a dam to prevent the fuel and water from the fire trucks from entering the creek. The last call was a natural gas leak at a residence on Baycourt Trail. No assistance was needed and the fire crews were released.
