Earlier this afternoon we received the mission number for one of our crews to deploy to western North Carolina to join the recovery efforts.
The crew will be equipped with four wheel drive vehicles, chainsaws and gear needed for them to clear roads, cut in access to isolated areas and support other firefighters in recoveries or emergency response as needed.
Everyone with the means to help is urged to donate to relief associations, churches and governmental based agencies that are collecting donations.
We want to remind you that following disasters such as this, scammers and frauds come out in force praying on the compassion of people that want to help. Do your due diligence to make sure any donations are actually going to a reputable relief effort.
Many local fire departments and law enforcement agencies are collecting donations.
